The marathon is undoubtedly considered the supreme discipline among running disciplines. Meanwhile, every self-respecting metropolis has such a mega running event in its event calendars. In this regard, Vienna is in line with other top-class venues such as New York, Berlin or Paris. Each spring, when the sun slowly but surely intensifies, the starting signal is given for the Vienna City Marathon. At this time, The Harmonie Vienna warmly welcomes runners and spectators!

The Vienna City Marathon ⚐ ⚑ offers 42km full of sights.

The marathon starts at the Vienna International Center – between the skyscrapers of the UNO-City. The race continues past the most beautiful sights of Vienna: First the runners cross the “Reichsbrücke”. Afterwards, the route leads across the Vienna Prater – passing the world-famous Ferris wheel. The tour continues on the Vienna Ringstrasse, past magnificent buildings to Schönbrunn Palace and back to the Ring and Prater. Afterwards, the participants run across the shopping mile par excellence – the “Mariahilfer Straße”. Impressive splendor buildings and churches, museums, the University of Vienna and the Parliament line the way. The Ring Street forms the home stretch for one of the world’s “most enculturated” marathons. Situated directly in front of the Burgtheater, the athletes cross the finish line after 42.195 kilometers.

Even a day before the main event, there is plenty of action: from the children’s and youth competitions to the 10-km run. As part of the Sunday main event, in addition to the classic marathon, a half marathon and a relay marathon for teams of 4 are also being held. In addition, numerous side events provide the appropriate marathon framework: At the VCM -Expo “Vienna Sports World” in the Marx Hall, full-blooded and hobby runners, who may yet become marathon participants, inform themselves about the latest running trends.

On the day of the race itself we serve breakfast already from 6 am. And naturally, for all marathon fence guests, our very “normal” pleasure program for conscious connoisseurs awaits. By the way: The marathon finish line at the town hall can be reached on foot from the hotel in just 15 minutes… even a fast-paced 10 walk. We look forward to your visit!
